Elementary/Intermediate drawing Grade Examination

Instituted in1880 Elementary and Intermediate Grade Examination has 18 students for the first ever examination. Today, around 2 lakh students appear for this examination. The main purpose is encouragement and development of art education amongst young aspiring individuals.

This examination will be held during September every year in Maharashtra State. Only those candidates who pass the Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination are admitted to the specialized higher courses like Commercial Art, Fine Art, Foundation. But it is not compulsory for other art courses like Fashion Design, Interior Design, Textile etc. But it gives added advantage if you have a certificate. Even sum ( some ) IT & Vocational engineering courses give advantage for intermediate exam.
